Designation: Senior Engineer OSI
Department: Electicial
Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent
Role Category: Project Execution - TG
Location: Hyderabad
Reporting: Associate Vice President – BESS
Role overview:
This role provides the broad, cross-disciplinary backbone of the in-house OSI team — someone conversant across BESS containers, PCS, transformers, and HV switchyard up to 220 kV, able to coordinate the full chain from battery container to grid connection. This person backstops both the SCADA/Integration and Electrical/Protection engineers and owns overall OSI coordination on site.
Key Roles & Responsibilites:
Technical – Overall Integration Ownership
- Coordinate across all BESS plant sub-systems — BMS, PCS, transformers, 33 kV–220 kV switchyard, SAS, and EMS/SCADA — covering gaps between the two focused engineers' scopes.
- Own the end-to-end integration outcome: EMS correctly communicating with, and controlling, every subsystem before plant switch-on.
- Step into either the SCADA/integration or electrical/protection workstream as needed, covering for either engineer or resolving issues that cross both domains.
Technical – Commissioning Leadership
- Support coordination of the overall energisation sequence, plant start-up, and grid synchronisation, working with both junior engineers and OEM teams.
- Support integrated system commissioning and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) execution across the full plant, consolidating inputs from the two focused engineers.
- Support the performance/root-cause review, helping determine whether shortfalls trace to integration, OEM equipment, or installation issues.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Support coordination meetings with OEMs, the EMS vendor, and internal stakeholders.
- Act as a technical point of contact between the internal OSI team and external OEMs, the EMS vendor, and Bondada's external OSI partner.
- Mentor and guide the junior OSI engineers, helping consolidate their documentation into a coherent overall integration package.
Qualification & Experience:
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems (preferred); Instrumentation/Electronics background acceptable with demonstrated multi-domain exposure.
- 6–8 years of experience spanning both electrical/HV systems and SCADA/communication integration, gained in solar, wind, or conventional power infrastructure/EPC projects.
- Demonstrated exposure across at least two of: PCS/inverter commissioning, HV switchyard (up to 220 kV) commissioning, SCADA/EMS integration, substation protection coordination — from any renewable or conventional power background.
- BESS experience is preferred but not mandatory; candidates with a strong solar or wind background — in O&M, commissioning, or SCADA/EMS roles with broad cross-domain exposure — are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Prior experience coordinating multiple OEMs on a single project (as a lead commissioning engineer or similar) is an advantage, though not mandatory.
Key Skills:
- Broad working exposure across at least two of: battery/PCS systems, transformers, 33 kV–220 kV switchyard equipment, and SCADA/EMS integration — enough to converse credibly across domains rather than deep mastery of one.
- Familiarity with at least one of IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus TCP, or DNP3, and general awareness of protection coordination principles.
- Strong documentation and consolidation skills — pulling together technical inputs from two specialists into one coherent integration narrative.
