Job Role: Manager - Safety (Solar EPC - Ground Mount Projects)

Role Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Safety professional to lead and enforce Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) practices at solar EPC project sites. The role is critical in ensuring zero harm, regulatory compliance, and a strong safety culture across all construction and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. HSE Planning & Implementation

    • Develop and implement site-specific HSE plans, procedures, and policies.
    • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, client requirements, and statutory regulations.
    • Conduct hazard identification (HIRA/JSA) and risk assessments for all site activities.

2. Site Safety Management

    • Monitor day-to-day site activities including:
    • Civil works (excavation, foundations, trenching)
    • Module mounting structure (MMS) erection
    • Electrical works (cable laying, termination, testing)
    • Enforce use of PPE and safe work practices across workforce and contractors.
    • Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and toolbox talks.

3. Incident Management & Reporting

    • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions.
    • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
    • Maintain and report HSE KPIs, incident statistics, and compliance reports.

4. Contractor & Workforce Safety

    • Ensure all contractors comply with HSE requirements and permit-to-work (PTW) systems.
    • Conduct safety inductions and training programs for employees and labor.
    • Monitor contractor safety performance and drive continuous improvement.

5. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance

    • Ensure adherence to applicable safety regulations such as:
    • Factory Act (if applicable), BOCW Act, Electrical Safety Rules
    • Maintain safety documentation, licenses, and ensure audit readiness.
    • Coordinate with authorities for inspections and compliance audits.

6. Emergency Preparedness

    • Develop and implement emergency response plans (fire, electrical hazards, medical emergencies).
    • Conduct mock drills and awareness sessions.
    • Ensure availability and maintenance of first aid, firefighting, and rescue equipment.

7. Safety Culture & Leadership

    • Promote a proactive safety culture across site.
    • Lead and mentor safety officers and supervisors.
    • Collaborate with project and EHS teams to integrate safety into all operations.

Key Requirements

    • Willingness to reside at project site (mandatory).
    • Certification in industrial safety (NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent).
    • Ability to work in remote locations and dynamic site environments.
    • Experience in utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects
    • Strong reporting and data analysis skills for HSE performance and roles within construction/solar EPC projects.
    • In-depth knowledge of safety standards, risk assessment techniques, and statutory compliance.
    • Strong communication and training skills.
