Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic General Manager – Solar Projects to lead end-to-end execution of utility-scale and rooftop Solar EPC projects. The role involves overall responsibility for project planning, execution, resource management, cost control, and stakeholder coordination across multiple project sites.
The ideal candidate will drive operational excellence, ensure timely project delivery within budget, maintain high standards of quality and safety, and contribute to business growth through effective leadership and client management.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead the complete lifecycle of Solar EPC projects from planning to commissioning and handover.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Oversee multiple project sites simultaneously and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
2. Strategic Planning & Management
- Develop project execution strategies, timelines, and resource plans.
- Monitor overall project performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and methodologies.
3. Financial & Commercial Management
- Manage project budgets, cost control, and profitability.
- Review project financials including billing, collections, and cost forecasts.
- Ensure effective cash flow management and optimize resource utilization.
4. Team Leadership & Resource Management
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams including engineering, construction, QHSE, and commercial teams.
- Ensure effective manpower planning, deployment, and performance management.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and results.
5. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure client satisfaction through effective communication and timely issue resolution.
- Participate in high-level meetings, project reviews, and negotiations.
6. Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE)
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and environmental norms across all projects.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure zero-harm objectives.
- Monitor compliance with ISO standards and statutory regulations.
7. Contract & Risk Management
- Review and manage EPC contracts, subcontracts, and vendor agreements.
- Identify contractual risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures.
- Handle claims, variations, and dispute resolution effectively.
8. Procurement & Supply Chain Coordination
- Oversee procurement planning and ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to maintain quality and delivery schedules.
- Support vendor evaluation and strategic sourcing initiatives.
9. Regulatory & Compliance Management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations including electrical safety, labor laws, and environmental requirements.
- Coordinate with government authorities and regulatory bodies as required.
- Maintain all project-related statutory approvals and documentation.
10. Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, risks, and financial performance.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to schedule, cost, quality, and safety.
- Prepare MIS reports and dashboards for decision-making.
11. Business Development Support
- Support business development teams in project estimation, proposal preparation, and technical inputs.
- Participate in client presentations and pre-bid meetings.
- Contribute to organizational growth strategies and market expansion.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical/Civil/Mechanical); MBA preferred.
- Experience: 15–20 years of experience in Solar EPC or infrastructure projects, with at least 5–8 years in leadership roles.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of solar project lifecycle, EPC contracts, and project finance.
