Solar Quality Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Solar Quality Electrical Engineer to ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of our solar PV electrical systems. You will lead quality assurance and control across design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning to uphold the highest standards for our solar projects.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute quality plans for electrical systems within solar PV projects, covering components such as panels, inverters, cables, combiner boxes, transformers, protection devices, and grounding systems.
Establish product and process quality standards, based on international and local regulatory codes (NEC, IEC, IEEE, local grid specs).
Conduct supplier audits and evaluations, assisting in component selection, reviewing supplier quality documentation, and driving corrective actions for non-conforming parts.
Perform systematic inspections and testing of electrical components and systems during manufacturing, pre-shipment, installation, and commissioning stages.
Analyze quality data and metrics, identify trends, root causes of issues, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Support design reviews, providing feedback on manufacturable, testable, and maintainable electrical system design.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, procurement, site, commissioning, and operations) to ensure cohesive quality coverage and uphold process consistency.
Develop quality documentation, including test protocols, checklists, inspection plans, acceptance criteria, and quality reports.
Oversee field and factory testing, including electrical performance, insulation resistance, ground continuity, and protective relay operation.
Lead non-conformance investigations and failure analysis for electrical defects or issues, ensuring definition, implementation, and verification of corrective actions.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, refining quality processes, enhancing test methods, and optimizing inspection efficiency.
Train and mentor teams, including quality technicians and site installers, on quality standards, best practices, and issue identification/resolution.
Ensure compliance audits, readiness for regulatory inspections, and maintenance of certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 17025).
Facilitate supplier corrective action and performance tracking, conducting follow-up assessments and documenting improvements.

🛠️ Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field.
Quality engineering experience in the solar PV sector or similar electrical power systems.
Strong understanding of electrical testing, inspection, and commissioning processes (e.g., Megger, relay testing, grounding).
Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies: root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone), FMEA, CAPA, SPC, Six Sigma (preferred).
Knowledge of electrical standards and regulatory codes (NEC, IEC, IEEE, local grid codes).
Experience conducting supplier and factory audits, issuing non-conformance reports, and managing corrective actions.
Excellent analytical skills, data-driven mindset, attention to detail, and problem-solving aptitude.
Effective communication and training skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders.
Capability to analyze performance metrics, implement improvements, and track quality KPIs.

🎓 Preferred Qualifications

Professional certifications (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma Black Belt, ISO Lead Auditor).
Experience with solar field-testing tools and software (e.g., IR cameras, IV curve tracing, data loggers).
Prior experience working in ISO 9001 or ISO 17025 environments.
Ability to travel to factories/sites for audits, field inspections, or commissioning support.
